What is Live-in Care?
Live-in Care is defined as follows: One caregiver, residing in the Client's home or apartment, provides care and assistance over a 24-hour period, except for their 6 hours of continuous sleep at night. For a 7-day schedule, two caregivers divide the 7 days, with one working 4 days and the second working 3 days. Live-in care is recommended for Clients who live alone and, in addition to personal care, require assistance with cooking, laundry, and housekeeping. Learn more about short and long term home care options.
The client usually stays in bed during nighttime sleep. A significant, though often overlooked, benefit of Live-In care is the emotional support of companionship. Trust and reassurance are quickly established by the daily, lengthy presence of the Live-in aide.

What is a Daily Progress Note?
The Daily Progress Note (DPN) is the caregiver's daily record of their attendance, the Client's mood, behavior, and activities of daily living. Vital Signs are recorded. It also shows visits by family, friends, a nurse, a therapist, and a Companions in Care qualified Care Manager.
There is also a Remarks section where the caregiver can comment on observable changes in the Client's health. Remarks describe lessening or worsening of symptoms from illness or recovery from surgery or injury. The completion of non-care tasks is also shown.
